Generally the percentage of recipients that open eQuip is between 25%-30%. As we would like to increase this statistic, we hope to improve the information that is getting to you.

I AM NOT homophobic. I am not filled with anger towards homosexuals, lesbians, trans-genderists, or any other sodomites. However, it seems that part of the militant homosexual agenda to normalise their perversions in the eyes of the community includes a campaign of terror. This is a bit of a messy article, so apologies for that. I endeavoured to write something eye-opening but the research became so sickening that it was difiicult to get a specific focus. Fiji Report. As you read this you might be thinking to yourself that Fiji sounds like a pretty nice place to do some mission work? Well, you’d be right! It is an awesome place to do mission work - but not for the reasons you think. Oh yes, it is beautiful, peaceful, relaxed. The beaches and the sunsets are incredible. It is all the things someone wants from a place as a holiday destination.
But we didn’t go for a holiday. In fact we didn’t spend any of our 8 days sight-seeing. Our schedule included being up early for a time of prayer and Bible reading, then the team gathered together for more prayer followed by breakfast.

We mentioned South Australia to the readers of eQuip several weeks ago. It seems the local officials are at it again. In the latest development, a Christian named Kevin was preaching in the Rundle Mall when he was approached by police and, after some discussion and demands, he was arrested. Kevin was forced to spend the weekend in the “lock up” as he refused to sign the bail order that stated he would not be permitted to enter the mall for a period of time (I think it is three months). All weekend the police tried to get him to sign the bail order, saying he could go home as soon as it is signed.

But good news! He faced court today (Monday) and was released on bail with NO CONDITIONS (except for interstate travel). So next Friday, he’s planning to head back into the mall

Fornication. This is a word that ellicits varied responses from people when asked if they have ever fornicated. Sometimes, when Open-Air preaching, we will read from 1 Cor 6:9-10, which provides us with a list of people who will not inherit the Kingdom of God. Included in that list is fornicators. As soon as we mention that word hecklers will begin shouting things such as “I love fornication”, “What’s wrong with fornication? You’re a right-wing fundamentalist trying to take away everbody’s fun”, or “If it doesn’t hurt anyone than how can it be wrong?”

The last statement is the one that interests me. Does fornication really not hurt anyone?

The Church of Oprah? Finally people are beginning to wise up to the incredible impact that Oprah Winfrey has upon the women of the world. We are talking about a woman who enjoys an almost goddess-like popularity all over the world. The reality is that there are probably only two women that have had such incredible followings:

• Mary, the mother of Christ. For centuries Roman Catholics have venerated this woman and lifted her far above the status that was intended for her.
• Similarly, our Roman Catholic friends have given far too much reverence to Mother Theresa regarding her work in India. Unfortunatelt, her tradition meant that the people to whom whe offered help were left without the real help they needed - salvation of their souls.
• Princess Diana. The Princess was a woman who captivated people’s hearts all over the world. She was considered beautiful and intelligent, caring and compassionate, and was someone to whom so many looked and hoped for some answers to the world’s ills. Diana was raised so high in the world’s eyes, but unfortunately she was just as wretched as you and I.

Now there is Oprah.

“Can a homosexual go to heaven?” was the question that was put to Alex and myself by a young man while we were witnessing on Friday night. But first, let’s go back a step or two…

I was Open-Air preaching. It was a cold night and we were not getting much in the way of crowds. There were some random hecklers from time-to-time, but none were willing to really come and state their case.

To my left I could see a young man who had walked into a position where he could hear more clearly. Suddenly a man walked up to me and said “You are discrediting Christianity. You’re an embarassment to Christians”, and then he walked off, unwilling to enter into any dialogue. (That is what I call a hit-and-run, and strangely it is usually those who call themselves Christians who are so opposed to the gospel being preached publicly).

Q. When is reading your Bible wrong?
A. When you read it wrong.

That might sound stupid, but every day people read their Bibles wrong. I am not suggesting that everybody reads their Bibles wrong! I am not proclaiming that I am somehow better than others, nor that you have to subscribe to my system of reading!

I am saying that there is a growing trend in churches and among Christians to simply take a verse from the Bible and use it for any particular purpose that suits the intentions of the reader at the time. This is commonly called proof-texting, and it is very dangerous.

In May 2007 a 91 year-old man was attacked by a carjacker in Detroit.
Leonard Sims was carjacked by Bradley Deontae. Bradley stole Sims’ car after repeatedly beating him in the face. The entire attack was caught on tape.
Now, you may be asking what this story has to do with anything? Possibly even more shocking than the attack itself is the fact that five people were standing nearby and did not do a thing.
